MiX Telematics records rapid progress in fleet management project for Public Authority for Electricity and Water in Oman
“PAEW had a critical need to control violations within their vehicle fleet. Unsafe driving, vehicle collisions, speeding, high maintenance costs and excessive fuel consumption were all areas of concern before PAEW fitted a MiX Telematics solution,” added Hall.
PAEW was particularly keen to reduce over-speeding and the negative impact this was having on safety and fuel consumption.
Hall added: “The installation was done in phases, with a remaining 120 vehicles based in remote areas set to be fitted with the solution throughout 2014. The MiX solution is cost-effective and includes track-and-trace functionality as well as historical trip reporting. It enables PAEW to communicate with drivers and better assign jobs.”
Mr. Saif AL-Mawali, Director General of Administration, PAEW said: “The immediate benefits since installation were felt within three months. Having the tools to effectively manage our vehicles and drivers enabled us to achieve a sharp reduction in major violations such as over-speeding, unfastened seat belts and harsh braking.”
PAEW management reported that the system has been very useful in changing drivers’ attitudes and driving style, helping to improve driving practices.
“We’re pleased to have been selected to equip PAEW with an extensible MiX Telematics solution that’s delivering high value to their operation. In addition to lowering accident rates and lessening fuel consumption, PAEW is saving on fleet maintenance costs through having more direct control over their fleet,” added Dr. Waseem Atiah, COO, FMSi.
“The five-year-long fleet management contract with PAEW is set finish in 2018. We look forward to working with the customer to sustain the improvement achieved to date, and to aid them in deriving even further value from the solution,” concluded Hall.
